Kettering will inaugurate Dr. Robert K. McMahan as the University's seventh president during special ceremonies Friday, April 20.
Alumni, corporate partners, parents of students, friends of the University and the Kettering Community are invited to campus on Friday, April 20, for one of the most important days in the history of the institution.
Provost Robert Simpson said the University will "Celebrate Kettering" during special ceremonies that culminate with the inauguration of President Robert K. McMahan as Kettering's seventh president.
"April 20 will be a day of significance for our University," Dr. Simpson said. "This celebration will focus on the accomplishments of our students, faculty, alumni, and our community. Its highlight is the festive and colorful inauguration ceremony for President Robert K. McMahan.”

Noon – Seating is limited to the first 500 guests in the International Room, Campus Center. The keynote address will be presented by Mary Barra '85, senior vice president of Global Product Development at General Motors.
2 p.m. - Research and Innovation Showcase in the Campus Center. See the lineup of Poster Presentations.
4 p.m. - The Inauguration of Dr. Robert K. McMahan as the seventh president of the University in the Connie and Jim John Recreation Center. Dr. McMahan's Inaugural address will include a vision for Kettering's future.
5:30 p.m. - Reception in the Campus Center.
7:30 p.m. - Student Festival in the Recreation Center.
Provost Simpson said visitors are especially welcome to attend. “Kettering’s new path blends the prestige of our technical past with its entrepreneurial spirit today. Our new president will reveal his vision for our future during this important event. We hope you can join us.”

‘Celebrate Kettering’ keynote address by Mary T. Barra '85, GM Senior Vice President, Global Product Development

Mary Barra was named Senior Vice President, Global Product Development for General Motors on Feb. 1, 2011.
She is responsible for the design, engineering, program management and quality for GM’s vehicles around the world. She is a member of the Executive Operations Committee and reports to Chairman and CEO, Daniel Akerson. She also became a member of the Adam Opel AG Supervisory Board in January, 2012.
Barra began her career with General Motors in 1980 as a co-op student at the Pontiac Motor Division. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering. In 1988, Barra received a GM fellowship to the Stanford Graduate School of Business and in 1990 graduated with a Master’s in Business Administration.
Barra is a member of the Kettering University Board of Trustees and is Key Executive for Stanford University.
