Alumni gather at SAE

Kettering hosted its annual alumni reception in conjunction with the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) world exhibition in Detroit.

About 100 alumni and Kettering staff gathered at the Detroit Athletic Club on Wednesday, April 5, to hear comments by President Stan Liberty and others.

Congratulations were extended to students David Rising and Sumit Kaul, who were part of the student team that competed in the 2006 SAE Detroit Section Student Exhibit.


Kettering students won second place honors, beating out 11 schools including Ohio State, Wisconsin and West Virginia. The students won a $600 cash prize and credit the presentation by Chad Swartz of Standish for the winning effort. SAE advisers are Craig Hoff, Greg Davis and Janet Brelin-Fornari, all of Mechanical Engineering.

Mike VanSlyke, associate vice president for Alumni Affairs, introduced Rob Evangelista '81, as the new Alumni Board chairman and other board members.
