The crowds were big and happy on Aug. 9 when Kettering hosted its summer open house, an event to introduce the University to high school students and their families.

Shari Luck, program coordinator for Discover Kettering, estimated the crowd at 300 prospective students and 800 total visitors from Michigan and a variety of states. "It is exciting to see the entire Kettering community come together to showcase the great opportunities we have to offer," Luck said.

A large number of students, faculty and staff volunteer for the annual event. Jennifer Jennings, a co-op education manager served as Luck's assistant. Events included a College Expo, featuring all the academic departments and student-related departments and tours of Kettering's academic buildings, Thompson Residence Hall, and the Connie and Jim John Recreation Center. There was also a Student Panel, where interested high school students asked current Kettering students about the university, the co-op experience and college life. Information sessions for admission, corporate relations and financial aid were also offered.

The next Discover Kettering is Saturday, Nov. 8, it is free and open to the public. Reservations are requested by calling toll-free in the U.S. or Canada at 1-800-955-4464, ext. 7865. Locally, the office of admissions is available at (810) 762-7865.
