Patrick Hayes

Patrick Hayes began working for Kettering University in 2010. His primary responsibility is coordinating Kettering Magazine, the college’s alumni magazine. He also contributes news articles and photos to the Kettering University website, providing coverage of students, faculty and events campus-wide. Hayes has worked as a news reporter and editor for View Newspapers, a chain of weekly newspapers in Genesee and Lapeer Counties, and he worked in the Flint Journal sports department for three years as a sports editor, reporter and coordinator of online local sports coverage. He is a graduate of Oakland University with a bachelor’s degree in general studies focused in history and political science and earned a master’s degree in journalism at Michigan State University.

Dawn Hibbard

Dawn Hibbard is responsible for: directing media relations and the external social media initiative, including facilitating media inquiries with campus experts and coordinating media opportunities/events on campus; identifying news stories to enhance the brand and increase awareness of Kettering; managing the News and Information Web site; coordinating facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter communications to the campus and externally; managing the electronic photo archive for PR and Communications, and providing photographic services to the campus focused on documenting key events, activities and people associated with the university; and contributing to the alumni publication “Kettering Perspective Magazine.” 

Hibbard has worked professionally in public relations and communications since 1985. Her professional experience includes internal communications for General Motors, public relations at Mott Community College and directing public relations efforts for the Girl Scouts - Fair Winds Council. In addition, she served as news editor for the East Village Magazine in Flint and was a freelance writer for the Flint Journal. Other freelance work includes publication of a photograph in a national women's magazine and designing corporate logos and brand management material for Flint-based companies. 

Her current community service activities include: The Rotary Club of Flint, Kettering Allies, the Kettering University-Mott Community College Global Issues Film Festival Committee, WKUF LPFM Advisory Board, and the Flint Public Library. Former community service includes: president of the Flint Women's Forum, Sunrise Rotary of Flint, fundraiser for WFBE FM public radio, contributing artist to the Flint Institute of Arts fundraising activities, Inter-Service Club Council and board member for the League of Women Voters-Flint. 

Hibbard received her bachelor's degree in Journalism from Central Michigan University and is currently pursuing a master’s of Business Administration from Kettering University.

Deena Hosmer

Previously a member of IT's Electronic and Desktop Support group for more than seven years, Deena transferred to the Office of PR & Communications in January 2007 to assist in a campuswide collaborative effort that is working to launch and maintain a new public website for Kettering University. Deena works with Kettering’s Web Team to make the new website more interactive and easier to use.

Her responsibilities include interviewing content owners, writing text, updating content, and helping to create a more consistent voice for Kettering’s Internet presence. Additionally, she will work toward integrating more key words into the website’s text so Kettering can increase its Internet exposure through Google, Yahoo and other search options.

Her current community service activities include: Professional Development Fair Planning Committee and membership in several online groups that foster cooperation and sharing among professional cross stitch designers. Deena also provides an online venue for cross stitch designers to participate in a twice-yearly trade show.

Deena received her bachelor's degree in English from the University of Michigan-Flint.

Pat Mroczek

Patricia's responsibilities include national media contacts, issues related to university communications and media relations, and serving as the University spokesperson. A newspaper reporter by training, Mroczek has worked in higher education media relations and communications at four institutions. She came to Kettering from Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, Mich., where she served as manager of news services. She previously served as director of publications and information at Adrian College in Adrian, Mich., and as an associate editor of communications at Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. She was also a reporter and photographer at the "Huron Daily Tribune" in Bad Axe, Mich. She has had photographs published by United Press International and the Detroit News and has freelanced for a variety of publications, including several agriculture magazines. She earned a master's degree in journalism at Ohio State University and a bachelor's degree in journalism from Central Michigan University.

Donna Wicks

Previously a member of IT's Applications group for more than twelve years, Donna transferred to the Office of PR & Communications in April 2012 as Kettering University's first webmaster. Donna's responsibilities include overseeing the construction and maintenance of the Kettering web pages, suggesting and implementing design changes, and overseeing the establishment of and adherence to standards policies. She also facilitates communication with all content editors to ensure the web reflects the standards of Kettering and provides end user support for web page creation.

Donna's experience includes twelve years as a senior system administrator with primary support for Blackboard. Prior to that she spent ten years as a publications editor and staff writer.

Donna received her bachelor's degree in Communications, with a minor in Marketing, from the University of Dayton. She also obtained a BSEE from Kettering University.

Her current community service activities tenure as a Flushing AYSO board member for 7 years serving as scheduler, concession stand director, field coordinator and webmaster. Donna is an active volunteer for Flushing school activities.
