How do Friends Contribute?

There are many ways that Library and Scharchburg Archive Friends can contribute to the growth and development of the Library. In addition to fund raising projects, FOLA sponsors cultural activities and the mounting of informational displays. FOLA works on public outreach projects to strengthen Library community ties. For more information contact Jack Stock at (800) 955-4464, ext. 7873.
Some of the specific projects for the FOLA include:
- Organizing book reviews and other events to promote a sense of community;
- Conducting user surveys to help the Library better serve its patrons;
- Sponsoring fund raising programs;
- Organizing the annual Book Sale and Silent Auction.
- Promote use of the Library's unique resources and the Richard P. Scharchburg Historical Collection.
What can you tell me about getting a tax refund for my donation?
Contributions to the FOLA are federal tax deductible as provided by law. Michigan residents may benefit in addition from the Michigan Tax Credit. The State of Michigan allows a portion of contributions made directly to Michigan universities to be credited against state income tax. The allowable credit is 50% of the gift, but may not exceed $200 for a joint return and $100 for a single return.Matching Gifts
Businesses and corporations may match personal gifts to educational institutions made by employees, retirees, and their family members. Contact your human resources office for more information, or visit our online search engine.
