The Ballenger Collection

Though numbering only 150 items, the Ballenger Papers contain some of the most significant documents in the Archives. William S. Ballenger was active in the management of the early Flint auto companies, in banking and in community services.

The papers illustrate the close relationship industry had with the banking community. The collection covers the following subjects:

  • Flint Wagon Works
  • General Motors
  • Buick Motor Company
  • Little Motor Company
  • Chevrolet
  • Industrial Rayon Corporation
