The John Lee Pratt Papers relate primarily to Pratt's business and industrial career, first as an engineer for E.I. duPont then as a General Motors Corporation executive beginning in 1919. The Pratt papers consist of correspondence and papers relating primarily to the philanthropic activities of this preeminent businessman. At one time, Fortune magazine considered him 17th on a list of the 50 wealthiest persons in the United States.
