Spam Alert - 5/4/2009 If you receive an email that appears to have come from Kettering University requesting your password, be alerted that it is not legitimate. The Kettering IT Department will never ask for such information in an email, especially passwords. Your response should be to immediately delete it. Please Do Not forward the email to the Help Desk as we are already aware of the fact due to prior detection notification. Be aware of any type of unsolicited email that requests any type of personal information! There are higher volumes of spam email in circulation now days as spammers are becoming more creative and elusive. Be aware that although our Barracuda Spam Filter (Spam Statistics) appliance catches the majority of spam email, there is always some that will sneak through. Due to this reality everyone needs to be vigilant and aware of how to respond. Many of these types of email are used to lure unsuspecting users by using authentic-looking email in an attempt to steal passwords, financial or personal information.
