Frequently Asked Questions

I lost my ID card. What do I do?

Check latest information on replacing ID cards at - Card Access Office.

As a student, do I need a PC? If yes, what should I buy?

A PC purchase decision is entirely yours. There are over 150 desktops available for you to use. Many are available 7x24. The Academic Computing Committee did develop a minimum configuration. You can also go to Undergraduate Programs, choose your preferred major, then use "Ask a Question" to send an e-mail to that program's contact to check for any recent PC requirement changes.

I forgot my password, how do I get it reset?

Come to the Help Desk in room 2-340 AB M-F 8-5 and we will reset it for you. If you're an off campus graduate student or off campus on your work term, call 810-237-8324 and we will reset it for you after asking some questions to identify you.

Do I have to use Kettering e-mail?

Yes. That is an official means by which a faculty or staff member can communicate to you.

Does Kettering University have wireless capability?

Kettering University has wireless points covering most classrooms, the library, Thompson Hall foyer (NO wireless in rooms, each room has a private LAN connection), and the Campus Center. If you are in one of these areas and cannot receive a wireless signal, please report the condition to the helpdesk.

May I use my own wireless router in Thompson Hall?

No, it creates a potential security access risk to our network and our servers.
