Using Archive/Export/Import Outlook Accounts

Archiving from Outlook

Users can, and should, archive their Outlook Email accounts to their network home drives. Here are the steps to do this.

  1. Open Outlook. Click on file, then on archive.
  2. At the window, highlight Personal Folders.

  1. Next, select a date to archive from. All information from this date and earlier will be selected to be archived.

  1. Next, type in the path of your network home drive, i.e. N:\home\(user's name), where your network user name is typed between the parentheses.. You can also select the browse button to map a path to your network home drive.

  1. After selection is complete, click on OK. Your archive will begin and only take a minute or two depending on the size of your folder.

Exporting from Outlook

  1. Open Outlook. Click on file, then on Import and Export, then click on next.

  1. Highlight Export to a file, then click on next.

  1. In the next window, highlight Personal Folder File (.pst), then click on next.

  1. In the next window, highlight Personal Folders, then click next.

  1. In the final window, type in the path to your home network drive, or other drive you wish to export your folder to, then click on finish. Your entire personal folder will be exported.

Importing to Outlook

  1. Open Outlook. Click on file, then on Import and Export.

  1. Highlight Import from another program or file, then click on next.

  1. In the next window, highlight Personal Folder File (.pst), then click on next.

  1. In the next window, type in the location of your backup .pst file, leave options selection at default, then click on next.

  1. Your folder will then import into your Outlook account.
