Material Science Minor
The relationship between the structure and properties of materials is an important area of study—especially for those who hope to make innovations in products or manufacturing processes. In fact, material science has fueled the rapid progress in optoelectronics, nanofabrication, novel semiconductors, high temperature superconductors and micro-electromechanical systems (MEMS) used throughout the world today.

You can minor in Materials Science by choosing four courses (16 credits) covering a range of topics including
- the physics of materials,
- polymer processing,
- solid state devices, and
- optoelectronics.
If you’re an Applied Physics major, you can’t minor in Material Science, but you can achieve a concentration in it.
