Computer Science FAQ
Who may enroll in the CS minor?
The CS minor is open to all Kettering students, regardless of major. Some majors have more courses in common with the CS minor, making it easier to complete the CS minor without additional coursework.
In which degree programs is it easier to complete the CS minor?
The following is a partial list of degree programs with courses in common with the CS minor. Students should consult with their degree advisor for authoritative information.
- Computer Engineering. CE majors are required to take CS-101, CS-102, CS-211, and CS-451. CE majors may use their two free electives to take CS-203 and any other high-level CS course to complete the minor.
- Applied Mathematics. AM majors are required to take CS-101 and CS-211. AM majors may use their four free electives to take CS-102, CS-203, and two other high-level CS courses to complete the minor. Those AM majors who elect the Applied and Computational Mathematics concentration may apply some of those courses towards that concentration, yielding more free electives.
- Applied Physics. AP majors may take CS-101 in lieu of MECH-210. AP majors must take two high-level science or engineering courses as technical electives; these may be applied to the two high-level CS courses. AP majors may use their two free electives to take CS-102 and CS-211, leaving only one extra course (CS-203) needed to complete the minor.
