Chemistry Curriculum

What makes the chemistry curriculum at Kettering University so unique?

Chemistry Lab

The Chemistry program is housed in the new C. S. Mott Engineering and Science Center.  Chemistry majors now have access to state-of-the-art laboratories that provide ample space for the development of a strong foundation in chemistry. Students work closely with professors and have opportunities to assist them in important research projects.  Their preparation includes work experience with industrial or government laboratories. Our graduates are unique because we are committed to offering a program which gives students the interdisciplinary background needed to compete in today's global economy.

The Bachelor of Sciences degree in Chemistry

  1. offers a rigorous chemistry degree consistent with the guidelines for degree certification by the American Chemical Society which ensures graduates obtain a solid chemical foundation;
  2. provides the opportunity to take courses and laboratories in all of the major chemical sub-disciplines including organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry, physical chemistry, analytical chemistry and biochemistry;
  3. encourages senior year Chemistry majors take advanced chemistry courses in specialized areas and work closely with faculty members on a research project, which allows them to gain a deeper insight into sub-disciplines of chemistry they choose; and
  4. provides an excellent foundation for careers in traditional chemistry areas as well as many in non-traditional areas such as technical management, education, technical writing, sales, business, and law.
