Society of Women Engineers (SWE) Expo 2008

Having fun in the lab.
You are invited by the Kettering University Society of Women Engineers (SWE) to attend our SWE Expo on February 23-24. Expo is a chance for you to learn about various science and engineering fields while having fun. You will stay in Kettering's residence hall for a real college experience and have an opportunity to get to know current Kettering students and professors.

Lost Foam Casting
We will have engineering design competitions and other fun activities. There will be four "hands-on" labs with Kettering professors. One lab will be Lost Foam Casting where participants will create a design out of a foam block. You will then pack it in sand and molten metal will be poured on your design. The metal takes the place of the foam design. This is a process that is used to make engine blocks. There will be three other labs in the areas of physics, chemistry, and bio-medical.
The members of SWE would love for you to come join us. To register, please email Casey Cramer or Shana Paciocco. Space is limited to the first 30 high school junior or sophomore female students to register. Additional program information will be sent to participants upon receipt of registration.Forms |
