Master of Science in Engineering Management Mission & Program Educational Objectives
MSEM Mission
The Master of Science in Engineering Management degree program provides an integrated set of learning opportunities for students interested in mastering the disciplines necessary for effectively managing technical, engineering-related business endeavors and provides the skills for and promotes life-long learning.
Program Educational Objectives
The Master of Science in Engineering Management program has three overall educational objectives:
- graduating students will have an integrated knowledge of and fundamental understanding of the technical business environment and a preparation for continued learning throughout their career;
- students will have the positive perspectives and skills that create productive technical employees and managerial leaders of technical related endeavors; and
- the graduate Business Program Faculty will demonstrate, as will other faculty participating in the M.S. in Engineering Management Program, an excellence in teaching, as well as evidence of meaningful professional and scholarly activities.
Program Intended Outcomes
The Master of Science in Engineering Management program intended outcomes align with the educational objectives listed above. These outcomes are:
- Students graduating from the MSEM program are academically prepared for a technical management career
- Students graduating from the MSEM program compare favorably when evaluated on a nationally-scaled examination
- Alumni are successful in their internal organizational endeavors or in other advanced studies
- Students graduating from the MSEM program have the necessary attitudes and skills to continue being productive employees
- Students graduating from the MSEM program can communicate effectively
- Graduates of the MSEM program become managerial leaders in a variety of organizations
- The MSEM program faculty demonstrate teaching effectiveness
- The MSEM program faculty use appropriate pedagogical techniques in the classroom
- The MSEM program faculty actively participate in a wide range of professional and scholarly activities
