Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs, and Professor of Mechanical Engineering

Dr. Jacqueline El-Sayed, Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs and professor of Mechanical Engineering, formerly the director of the Center for Excellence in Teaching & Learning earned her Ph.D. from the University of Missouri in Manufacturing Optimization, with expertise in nonlinear finite element analysis and computer aided manufacturing.

A graduate of Kettering/GMI herself, El-Sayed enjoys working with current students because they are "active learners who want to understand the big picture. She loves their curiosity, passion and drive to succeed."

A popular instructor with students, El-Sayed is academic adviser to a number of student groups. Sometimes her popularity surpasses the reason for a group's meeting, such as the time when a student showed up for a meeting even though he was not a member of the group. When asked why he attended, he said because he liked El-Sayed as a teacher and they were serving pizza.

Hidden talents and outside interests: when not engaging the students in the classroom or serving on one of many professional boards, El-Sayed enjoys spending time with family and playing classical piano.
