Dr. James K. Huggins, associate professor of Computer Science
Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering from the University of Michigan, with expertise in formal methods, computer science education, theoretical computer science, ethics in computing and the history of computing.

With almost 10 years of service to Kettering, Huggins says that students come to Kettering with a firm intention about what they want at the institution and what they expect out of it. Additionally, the cooperative education work experience component aids students to mature more rapidly than at other schools, which allows Huggins to attempt projects in upper-level courses with greater sophistication than he would at other colleges.

Huggins uses the words dedicated, mature and professional when describing Kettering students and says that the most enjoyable part about teaching at the University is simply the students. This is due in large part to the students' desire to bring their real-life experiences and questions into the classroom, which makes Kettering a very interesting place to work. He chose to teach at Kettering based on the value the institution places on students and student instruction.

Hot tip for prospective students: "For those students who appreciate and value the University's uniqueness, Kettering can provide the opportunity for an educational experience that you won't find anywhere else."

Hidden talents and outside interests: In his free time, Huggins enjoys church life, bible study, reading science and naval fiction, playing computer games and playing bridge with his wife and friends.
