This CUE option requires students to apply and be accepted through CCUE in collaboration with a research faculty member. Students are advised by a faculty member as well as at least one qualified committee member.

The topic is determined by a Kettering faculty member and approved by CCUE. Students produce a tangible artifact including a comprehensive final written report. This is a two-term project with registration during the last work term. In addition, participation in an annual Kettering poster session and/or presentation of the thesis is strongly encouraged.

Students pursuing the Research Thesis and employed, must initially submit a letter of approval from the employer on company letterhead. Upon CCUE receiving this letter or if the student is unemployed, the student discusses possible projects with the CCUE.
