This course is aimed to introduce the use of Lean principles in the service industry.  We will examine the fundamental issues related to the internal processes of service industries such as transactions, document flow, information management and storage, and human resources.  The core topics in this course will be addressing the heavy cost of information and documentation collection and management in industries like banking, healthcare, and logistics.  We will present a proven model to service industry through which they can deploy lean principles to their own flavor and extract tremendous financial benefits and minimize their wasted activities.  We will also discuss in depth all the value added and non-value added processes and activities that play a key role in the effectiveness and efficiency of service industries.

 

Course Objectives:

At the end of this course, participants will be able to:

1. Learn about application of lean principles in service industry.

2. Understand lean principles as they apply to services and specific processes that are critical to service industry.

3. Design and implement a model through which they can control and better manage their transaction and documentation flow.

4. Implement the lean principles by identifying their top wastes in their front and back offices.

5. To identify the specific hidden costs related to mishandling and or extra handling of documentation in their facilities.
