Computer ChipSince when does zero equal 2,500?
- During “zero section” of course. While you were out IT increased student user storage on the Windows system from 136 Gigabytes to 2,500 Gigabytes (or 2.5 Terabytes), which increased student storage quotas from 100 Megabytes to 1000 Megabytes or 1 Gigabyte. In addition to more space, IT rolled out a new user file recovery feature. So, if you have ever deleted a file by accident or saved changes to the wrong file on a file that you saved to your Windows network storage area, you will be able to fix your mistake. The new system will let you restore a previous copy of the file in seconds. Information on how to use this recover feature can be found in the help sheet section of the IT web page. If you have questions about these changes, feel free to call or email the Helpdesk at ext. x8324 or helpdesk@kettering.edu.

From lab to “fab”!
- Several Windows computer labs on campus got an extreme makeover this “zero section” to improve networking and usability. In 3-501/503 General PC Lab all of the furniture and computer equipment (every last item in the room) was removed in order to replace the carpeting that was over 20 years old. Networking cable was replaced to support higher networking speeds. All of the 40 student workstations were upgraded to 22-inch widescreen monitors. In the Loeffler Lab in the Mott building all of the 36 student workstations were upgraded to 22-inch widescreen monitors. In the Applied Mathematics Lab in the Academic building 20 student workstations were upgraded to 22-inch widescreen monitors.
