Frances Willson Thompson Hall is the on-campus residence facility for Kettering University. The hall has four floors, and is designed in a figure eight formation with two courtyards. It is divided into 17 residential units of 17-37 residents per unit. Each unit has a Resident Assistant.
Rooms in Thompson Hall are all single rooms. Each room comes with bed, desk, desk chair, dresser, bookshelf, wardrobe and a Micro fridge. All rooms are air conditioned. Residents share community bathrooms, which are located at the intersections of each hallway and cleaned Monday-Friday by custodial staff.
Thompson Hall's main lobby is always a busy place! Most major Thompson Hall events take place here as well as Late Night Kettering every Friday and Saturday night. The lobby has wireless internet and students find it a very convenient place for large study groups. The lobby also has an extensive collection of board games and puzzles for students to use, along with two large TV’s that can be used to watch movies or play video games.
Thompson Hall’s front desk offers many services for residents including DVD and Blu-ray movies, Xbox, Wii, WiiU, and Playstation games, consoles, and controllers, irons and ironing boards, pool cues and balls, lawn games, ping pong equipment along with many other free rentals.
There are six smaller lounges located throughout the building. These lounges offer students a great opportunity to hang out with friends or study in larger groups without a lot of passing traffic.
There are two courtyards in Thompson Hall where students can relax or hang out with friends and enjoy the outdoors. A variety of benches and picnic tables make the courtyard a great alternative to studying indoors during the warmer months as well.
Located on the second floor of Thompson Hall is the Community Kitchen. Residents can use the kitchen during lunch and dinner hours seven days a week to prepare basic meals. A Kitchen Attendant is available to assist residents with the kitchen supplies.
Located in the basement are Thompson Hall’s laundry services, an additional recreation area, and a student lounge. The basement offers a great area to study or play while waiting for laundry or just to hang out with fellow peers.
There are two computer labs located in Thompson Hall. Located on the third and fourth floors, each lab contains six flat screen computers on the campus network and a printer. Accessible to students using their ID card, the labs are monitored by video and computer center staff.
