The mission of the fitness programs at the Connie & Jim John Recreation Center is to improve health and quality of living for the Kettering community through a lifetime of fitness by providing safe, effective, and enjoyable fitness opportunities and education in outstanding facilities.
Exercise Videos, Personal Workout Programs
The Group Exercise Room, located on the 3rd floor of the Recreation Center, is equipped with various exercise equipment including workout mats, BOSU balls, body bars, flexi-balls, hand weights, aerobic steps, and spinning bikes which can be used for groups, big and small, as well as for individuals.
A 55” Smart TV/DVD has also been installed so that patrons can workout using videos they checkout from equipment issue, download or purchase themselves. Equipment issue has videos for Zumba, Yoga, Spinning as well as the T-25 workout system. These options allow patrons to workout when their schedule allow. The Recreation Center is offering free tennis clinics to the faculty, staff and students of Kettering University on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 12:30 to 1:15 p.m. The clinics begin on October 13 and continue through November 4. Clinic provided by tennis coach and instructor, Mark Taylor. All skill levels are welcome.
Ditch the workout, join the party! Classes will be taught Monday & Wednesdays at 7:30 p.m. in the Group Exercise Room. The classes are free and taught by certified Zumba instructor, Jessica Grant.
Classes will be taught Tuesdays at 7 p.m.
Students are invited to attend free of charge and there is a slight increase in rate to faculty, staff, and member participants: $55/10 class session.
Payment is made directly to the instructor, Lois Schneider of the Yoga Loft, at the first class. The yoga style is Hatha Yoga. All classes are in the Group Exercise Room.

The Yoga Loft of Flint moves & merges: Kettering’s favorite yoga instructor, Lois Sharp-Schneider has moved The Yoga Loft into a new space in the Wade Trim Building, downtown Flint. Now called The Yoga Loft & Sharp Fitness, she & her daughter Allore offer Iyengar Yoga, Zumba, Cardio Kickboxing, Muscle Pump & Core Strengthening. Find class times at The Loga Loft.
