Safety & Comfort
Kettering University is committed to providing a safe and secure environment for all campus residents and visitors, including LITE Program participants. Safety officers monitor campus activities and patrol the campus 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
LITE Program participants live in a section of Thompson Hall set aside for them in an all-women wing. Bathrooms are shared with other women on the floor. Mentors and residence hall staff live nearby and are there to handle myriad situations and emergencies.
We've established a number of policies to ensure LITE Program participants' safety and comfort. Mentors impose nightly curfews.
LITE Program participants who drive themselves to Kettering must surrender their car keys to the Program Director upon their arrival, and for the duration of the program. Participants may leave campus only with authorization and if accompanied by a LITE mentor or staff person. LITE staff members supervise all field trips and chaperones participate in all social excursions.
