Program Educational Objectives
The mission of the Computer Science program at Kettering University is to provide its students with a solid theoretical foundation in computer science with added emphasis on applications of computer science gained through both the academic program and the co-op work experience.
In support of this mission, the Computer Science faculty have established the following program educational objectives:
- Computer Science graduates will have a broad, mathematically rigorous program in the fundamental areas of computer science that will allow them to continue their professional development and sustain a life-long career in computer science either through graduate study or continuing self-directed learning and development activities.
- Computer Science graduates will have developed a sufficient depth of understanding in computer science, and the skills, confidence, professionalism and experience necessary for successful careers in computer science and related fields.
- Computer Science graduates will have the teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills to enable them to work effectively with interdisciplinary teams in industry, government, and academia.
- The Computer Science faculty will provide its degree majors an excellent education experience through the incorporation of current pedagogical techniques, understanding of contemporary trends in research and technology, and hands-on laboratory experiences that enhance the educational experience.
