I want to let you know that we have recently hired SHW Group out of Berkley, Michigan to assist us with developing an updated campus facilities master plan. The key goals in this effort are to help assess our current physical resources in support of our mission, identify areas that need to be addressed in the near term, and provide a conceptual plan for how we can meet longer-term future needs of the campus. This work will begin right away and likely take at least the next six months to complete.
It will be important for the SHW team to gather data from a wide range of stakeholders including faculty, staff, students, and community. For example, representatives of SHW will be touring the campus facilities and meeting with numerous individuals and/or focus groups. A small steering committee comprised of the president, provost, vice president for administration & finance, and the director of physical plant will interact with SHW on a regular basis to help guide the process. The Resource Advisory Committee will provide broader perspective and feedback to SHW and the president on the work as it progresses. Also, there will be a variety of feedback loops built into the process to share progress with the campus.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me or your area vice president.
