To the Campus from President McMahan:

I hope this finds you well. I am pleased to inform you that the Provost Search Committee has completed its airport interviews of candidates and has invited three finalists to campus.  These campus visits will take place next week, and each candidate will be on campus for one day of interviews with faculty, staff and students. The CV’s for each of the finalists are available for your review on Blackboard.

Our three finalists and the dates on which they will be on campus are:

  • Dr. Selcuk Guceri:   Monday, February 10
  • Dr. Noah Manring:  Wednesday, February 12
  • Dr. James Zhang:    Friday, February 14

Each candidate will meet with faculty, staff, and student groups following the same schedule on the days indicated above:

8:00 a.m. - 8:45 a.m.        President McMahan
9:00 a.m. - 9:45 a.m.        Academic Department Heads, Senate Conference Room
10:00 a.m. - 10:45 a.m.    Provost Council  (Other than Department Heads), Senate Conference Room

Our Search Consultant, Dr. Karen Goldstein, will provide an online feedback form for your use immediately after each candidate’s visit. Your participation and input are important, so please take part in this process and help us evaluate our finalists.

The process from here:  After all campus visits have been completed, the Search Committee and our Search Consultant will meet to consider all feedback received. The Committee will then evaluate (in an unranked format) the strengths and weaknesses of each of our finalist candidates. Considering these evaluations, I will then select our next VPAA and Provost.  Barring unforeseen circumstances, we anticipate making a formal announcement of our next Provost in early March (if not before).

I wish to take this opportunity to thank all of the members of our Search Committee for their dedication and hard work throughout this process. I have been very impressed with the quality of the Committee’s deliberations, and the thoughtful nature of our discussions. As a result of their efforts, I believe we have an excellent and distinctive set of finalists.
