There are three different constructions projects affecting I-69.
I-69 Mill and Resurface Project that runs from M-13 to Elms Road.
Eastbound is done except the finishing pavement markings and rumble strips. If the weather holds the left lane of westbound should be finished tonight, below is the schedule if the weather holds for the right lane, if not it may be shifted a night:
Thursday, September 12, start paving the right lane, this will require a short duration closure of the Morrish Road ramps from about 7:30 - 10:30 p.m.
Sunday, September 15 night, continue on just the right lane.
Monday, September 16 night, they should be at the M-13 ramps, they will also require a short duration closure from about 3 - 6 a.m.
Tuesday, September 17 night, the ramps at Morrish Road will be closed for milling and resurfacing from about 7 p.m. - 6 a.m.
Wednesday, September 18 night, the ramps at M-13 will be closed for milling and resurfacing from about 7 p.m. - 6 a.m.
Again this is all weather dependent.
We have a project starting up on I-75 over Swartz Creek to place rip-rap under the bridges. To get the material in and equipment in we will need to close the ramp from westbound I-69 to southbound I-75. This closure will be Monday night from midnight to 4 a.m. The detour for this will take traffic down to Bristol Road and have them circle back around onto eastbound I-69 to southbound I-75. This closure will again be needed around September 19 or 20 but will update everyone as we get closure. This project is also weather dependent.
The last project on I-69 is the signing project.
Tonight (or tomorrow morning) and tomorrow night (Friday morning) MDOT will be installing the new overhead signs on eastbound I-69 near the ramp to I-75. This will require short duration freeway closures. The closures will be for about 15 minutes, the freeway will open back up to allow traffic to clear and then close it down again. This process will happen between the hours of 1 - 4 a.m. Again this is weather dependent.
Then Saturday night (Sunday morning) and Sunday night (Monday Morning) we will need short duration freeway closures for the new overhead signs on westbound I-69 before Hammerberg Road. The times for this work will be the same as the previous sign, and it is weather dependent.
As always, stay up-to-date by visiting the MDOT website.
