Conferences & Grants

Conferences

The Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning highly recommends professional development in the areas of teaching enrichment, educational scholarship and assessment. CETL sponsors a collection of events per year including a joint conference with the other Flint area campuses, the CETL Speaker Series, and several events facilitated by Pacific Crest.

For information on CETL sponsored Pacific Crest events, please visit: http://www.pcrest.com/ or http://www.pcrest.com/centers/Kettering/.

To register for an event please email Jackie El-Sayed, jelsayed@kettering.edu. There is no charge for Kettering faculty or staff to attend these professional development events.

Educational Travel Grant

CETL invites applications for educational travel grants. Tenure and tenure track faculty are invited to apply for travel grants to support participation in conferences, workshops, etc. related to teaching and learning. Applications may be sent to the Director of CETL at cetl@kettering.edu. Applications should identify the recipient and include a brief description of the conference, workshop, etc., and the activities in which the recipient plans to engage; it is important to explain how these activities are or might be related to teaching and learning at Kettering University. Preference will be given to individuals who have been active in CETL activities.

Grants may be for up to $1500, which can be used to cover any expenses associated with a teaching-related conference, workshop, etc. (e.g., airfare, hotel, registration fees, meals, etc.) within the normal limits for reimbursed travel at Kettering University.

Recipients of travel grants will be required to develop a workshop for an annual internal conference or institute at Kettering University, to take place at the discretion of the CETL Director, but usually within twelve months of receiving the grant; the workshop should be related to the activities of the conference, etc. the recipient attended.
