Accounting/Finance Concentration

Description: In Kettering's Accounting/Finance program, you will learn about financial and managerial accounting, cost analysis, auditing, taxation, investments, capital structure, and budgeting.

Acoustics Concentration

Description: Acoustics is the science of sound. A huge number of scientific problems and disciplines fit into this definition, including noise and vibration control, electroacoustics (audio, loudspeaker and microphone design), medical ultrasonics (using sound to kill cancer cells without surgery) and more. At Kettering, if you're an Applied Physics major, you can pursue a concentration in Acoustics.

Applied & Computational Mathematics Concentration

Description: Students majoring in applied mathematics at Kettering University with a concentration in Applied & Computational Mathematics will study classical and modern mathematical topics related to scientific and engineering disciplines. This concentration includes courses that emphasize the modeling of physical systems from theoretical and practical perspectives as well as courses that emphasize practical scientific computations.

Applied Mathematics Major

Description: In Applied Mathematics, Kettering students flex their math muscles to solve current and crucial problems such as: how can we deliver larger data sets reliably through a communications network, how can we mathematically model the spread of disease in the wake of a bio-terrorist incident, and how can we design a series of studies to determine if a drug is safe - avoiding recent problems publicized in the news.

Applied Optics Concentration

Description: Applied Optics is the application of optics to a broad realm of processes and products in industry, such as laser materials processing (welding, cutting and heat treating), automated inspection and measurement, fiber optic communication, and remote sensing. Applied Physics majors can take a concentration in Applied Optics.

Applied Optics Minor

Description: Applied Optics is the application of optics to a broad realm of processes and products in industry, such as laser materials processing (welding, cutting and heat treating), automated inspection and measurement, fiber optic communication, and remote sensing. To achieve a minor in Applied Optics, you must complete four courses (16 credits). The minor is not available to Applied Physics majors (they can take a concentration in Applied Optics).

Applied Physics Major

Description: The Applied Physics degree program is a unique integration of a rigorous curriculum with meaningful co-op work experience and emphasis on applied areas of acoustics, optics, and materials, a strong background in mathematics, and computational techniques. Graduates will emerge prepared for success in graduate school or technical careers

Applied Statistics Concentration

Description: Students majoring in applied mathematics at Kettering University with concentration in Applied Statistics will study modern statistical methods related to the acquisition, organization, analysis, and interpretation of data. This concentration includes courses that emphasize the theory and application of probability, statistics, and mathematical modeling. This concentration also provides excellent preparation for the student interested in starting a career in the actuarial profession.
