End of Term Dinner - April 2009

SAC members celebrated the End of the Term with dinner at Brickstreet Grill in Grand Blanc, MI. It was a very busy and productive term.

The Plymouth Whalers vs. the Sault St. Marie Greyhounds - March 7, 2009

SE Michigan hosted an alumni gathering on March 7 at the Compuware Arena where the Plymouth Whalers took on the Sault St. Marie Greyhounds.

With play stopped, Deb Schnettler took an action shot of the group enjoying the game. The Whalers won 8-2. SAC member Aaron TenHuisen looks on as Brandon Schinzel tries to get the puck to the ice. Brandon also plays for the Kettering Hockey Team.

DiSC (Dimensions of Behavior) - March 7, 2009

Al Arens '62, of Life Enhancing Programs, conducted the DiSC (Dimensions of Behavior) to members of the Student Alumni Council. The DiSC Personally Profile is a plan to understand yourself and others.

Wine Tasting and Education - February 25, 2009

The Kettering/GMI SE Michigan Chapter hosted a wine tasting event at Wine Styles in Livonia, MI. Alumni and guests tasted five different wines - 2 white and 3 reds from crisp to bold tastes. Needless to say, everyone had a great time.

Ken Kayser '73 "The History of GM's Ramjet Fuel Injection on the Chevrolet V-8 and its' Corvette Racing Pedigree." - February 19, 2009

On February 19 SAC and FOLA joined together to host Ken Kayser '73 who spoke to students on his book "The History of GM's Ramjet Fuel Injection on the Chevrolet V-8 and its' Corvette Racing Pedigree." The National Corvette Owners Association named Ken's book the "2008 Book of the Year." Over 75 students, faculty, and staff heard the fasinating story which included facts on Duntov and Durant and the Flint area. Ken is alumnus of Sigma Chi.

SAC Informational Session - February 18, 2009

SAC hosted a informational session for prospective new members on February 18 in the crib-a-thon. Over 10 students joined in to see what SAC is all about, what kind of events they host, and how they can get involved.

Vehicle Research Rollover - January 29, 2009

SAC hosted Don Parker '75 who spoke to students in the WRC on "Vehicle Research Rollover" on January 29. His presentation included footage of vehicles actually rolling over, showing the damage to the vehicles and non-belted passengers. Don is a consultant  with Exponent Inc./Failure Analysis Associates, Farmington Hills, Michigan. Pictured are students gathered in the WRC to listen and watch Don's presentation.

3rd Annual Kettering/GMI Alumni Frankenmuth Snowfest Breakfast - January 24, 2009

Innovative Leadership - January 16, 2009

Paul Demand '88 Vice President and President Metalworking Solution and Services Group of Kennametal, Inc. spoke to over 80 students on January 16 in the crib-a-thon. Paul talked about "innovative leadership" and how to get ahead in our changing work force.
