He also received appointment by the National Academy of Science to the review committee for the Dept. of Defense’s 21st Century Truck Partnership program. He also owns a consulting business and consults for Detroit Diesel, General Motors and several law firms. Merrion regularly stays in contact with other Kettering/GMI graduates: Jerry Zimmer, Jack Schmidt, Bob Schaefer, Dan Hancock and Jack Boyle while skiing, golfing and eating. David won a patent last year on a modified diesel-electric engine that could produce a vehicle that achieves potentially between 65 and 70 miles per gallon. 1959Class Agent: John J. Goodrich

Jack Goodrich is now the new Kettering class agent. He writes, “since it was only 52 years ago that we started at GMI, most of B-C & D Section classmates probably remember me well (ha-ha). I am most proud of: 1) the education and career training provided by GM, 2) the lasting friendships of so many classmates, 3) the head start in life obtained via our co-op program, plus allowing the program to mostly (if not totally) pay for our basic college education, and 4) exposure to situations of adult life we never thought about or considered prior to 1955.”

Dr. Moore is a published composer, renowned pianist and teacher of Music Industry Law and Ethics at Syracuse University’s Setnor School of Music. He performed the special piano concert in August to honor the memory of his brother and to benefit The Stephen Ward Moore Endowed Scholarship. The intimate setting of the warm, welcoming, exquisitely landscaped Grand Rapids, Mich., home of Mrs. Bonnie Moore, Stephen’s widow, provided the perfect venue for an elegant and meaningful afternoon of Beethoven, Liszt and Chopin. Interesting commentary from Dr. Moore regarding the life of the greatly underrated composer Franz Liszt added to the performance of several Liszt works. Stephen Ward Moore passed away suddenly in 2006. His widow, Bonnie J. Moore, established the scholarship to honor his memory and legacy.
