NSBE/Alumni Reception - September 2, 2004

The Kettering University Alumni Affairs Office and the Minority Affairs Office met at the Holiday Inn Select in Auburn Hills, Michigan for a presentation given by the Kettering University Chapter of the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) on Thursday, September 2, 2004.

Barbara Whittaker '74, Executive Director, GM Worldwide Purchasing, gave an inspiring talk on how she came to be a GMI graduate and how that experience has taken her on a very rewarding, successful career journey. Bill Osborne '83, Executive Director Truck Business Group, Ford Motor Company, was also present to give his take on how Kettering/GM has changed over the years and how it has impacted on his life and the life he leads today. Other alumni that were in attendance were Audley Brown '91 and Steve Johnson '69, a very active alumnus from Kettering/GMI.

After enjoying some hors d’oeuvres and beverages, Kettering's alumni and friends were able to talk with the students about their experiences with the University. The students also shared with the alumni the Mentoring Program of the Student Alumni Council (SAC) in which a student is paired with an alumnus for inspiration and guidance.
