Giving Opportunities

Greatest Need – A gift to the Kettering Gift Fund allows the University to use the money right now for the everyday needs of the institution. Whether it is to give merit scholarships to incoming freshman, buy beakers for the chemistry lab, or fund a new initiative by faculty, these crucial dollars are put to work immediately to educate students with our unique co-op program of real world learning. Contact Bonnie McArthur at 810-762-9519 with questions or to make a gift by phone.

Kettering University Endowment Fund – A university’s endowment ensures the future. It allows the school to know it will be able to fulfill its mission—to prepare future leaders for a global workplace—for generations to come. Currently Kettering’s total endowment is over $65 million and growing. Your gift to the General Endowment Fund helps this endowment grow and continues forever. Contact Bonnie McArthur at 810-762-9519 with questions or to make a gift by phone.

Scholarships – Kettering has a General Scholarship Endowment of over $652,000 and continues to receive donations. This endowment assures there will be scholarship money for future generations.

Kettering is honored to also have many named annual and endowed scholarships set-up by organizations or individuals with specific donations. While the scholarship is administered by the Kettering Financial Aid office, the donors help to build the criteria for awarding the scholarship. Annual scholarships are awarded to students the year the gift is received.  Endowed scholarships (minimum $25,000) are invested the first year and then pay a portion to students each year based on the earnings. In this way, endowed scholarships continue in perpetuity. Contact Jack Stock at 810-762-7873 or Sue Weiss at 810-762-9768 for more information, or for help in setting up your named scholarship.

Fellowships – Fellowships are endowments (minimum $25,000) that can benefit either students or faculty. The donor or donors help to build the criteria for receiving the fellowship as well as what the recipient receives. Registration fees and travel expenses to attend trainings, awards to purchase specific research equipment, and congratulatory stipends are some of awards. The Student Leaders Fellowship is one of the many fellowships on campus. Contact Jack Stock at 810-762-7873 or Sue Weiss at 810-762-9768 for more information, or for help in setting up your named fellowship.

Endowed Chairs – An Endowed Chair pays the salary and benefits for a chosen faculty member. This naming opportunity allows the donor to choose the department and some of the criteria used to select the faculty member. Always a great privilege to be chosen, an endowed chair allows Kettering to honor valued professors for their work in and out of the classroom. Contact Dennis Washington at 810-762-9863 for more information, or for help in setting up your named endowed chair.

Facilities, Laboratories, and Departments – Kettering’s many donors give specific gifts to facilities, laboratories, or to special academic or operational departments. Named labs are seen in both the Academic Building and the Mott Engineering Building. (Visit the individual Academic Program majors for specifics.) Donations of cash and equipment are accepted. Contact Bonnie McArthur at 810-762-9519 with questions about cash gifts. Contact Peggy Simpson at 810-762-9527 to discuss how your equipment donation might be used in a lab on campus.

Programs – Giving pre-college students experiences in science, math, engineering, and business is good for everyone. Programs such as Academically Interested Minorities (AIM), Lives Improved Through Engineering (LITE), Kamp Kettering, and FIRST Robotics, help Kettering University interest talented middle and high school students in our university. Programs such as these would be impossible without the contributions of our many donors.

Campaign for Excellence – Naming opportunities are available at many levels through the comprehensive campaign. Contact Dennis Washington at 810-762-9863 to discuss how you might be involved.
