40th Annual Detroit Alumni Chapter Dinner - October 7, 2004

Cars, great food, laughs, along with a bunch of alumni and guests all add up to a fantastic evening. Over 125 alumni and friends gathered at the San Marino Club in Troy on October 7, 2004. The keynote speaker was Bruce Coventry '75 from Daimler Chrysler. Bruce is currently the President of the Global Engine Manufacturing Alliance. He delivered a very interesting presentation on "The Future of Automotive Design."

One of the main goals of the Detroit Chapter Dinner is to raise money for scholarships for Detroit area students. This year the Detroit Chapter raised enough money to provide three students each $1000.00. This year's winners were:

  • Sophomore: James Bendert
  • Junior: Patricia Stehlin
  • Senior: Hong Weng

Not only were the scholarship recipients recognized, but there was also a very special alumnus that received an award. Ernie L. Brooks '66 was honored with the Distinguished Alumni Award. The Detroit Chapter also presented Dr. James John with the Special Service Award.

The Detroit Chapter Dinner proved to be yet another huge success. From announcing the new Chapter officers to recognizing very special people, the Detroit Chapter proves they know how to have a good time.

The Detroit Chapter would like to send out a special thanks to all their dedicated sponsors. Thank you again for supporting our chapter and school.
