Membership

All Kettering, GMI-EMI and GMI Alumni that live and/or work in Livingston, Macomb, Monroe, Oakland, Washtenaw and Wayne Counties automatically are members. However, all Alumni, family and friends are invited and encouraged to participate in events.
 

Mission Statement

The Kettering/GMI Alumni Association Southeast Michigan Chapter’s Mission is to provide Southeast Michigan Alumni opportunities to build and strengthen relationships with each other and the University and to have fun doing it.
 

Purpose

The Kettering/GMI Alumni Association Southeast Michigan Chapter’s Purposes are to build the Kettering “brand” awareness and to strive to continuously enhance Kettering’s reputation, in both the business and educational communities, as an unmatched example of educational excellence.

Monthly Meeting

A casual dinner meeting is held the second Tuesday of each month, 6:30 pm, at Max & Erma’s Restaurant in the Twelve Oaks Mall (I-96 & Novi Road in Novi). All alumni and friends are welcome to participate.

Events currently planned for the coming year include:
    • Annual Chapter DinnerThursday, May 30, 2013, at the San Marino Club in Troy, MI.  Sponsorship details
      • Bob Wolforth Scholarship - Given to one freshman, one sophomore, one junior and one senior who lives or co-ops in the SE Michigan counties of Wayne, Oakland, Macomb, Livingston, Washtenaw, or Monroe.  Deadline to apply for 2013 is March 8.  Scholarship Application
      • Wine Tasting - Thursday, November 7, 2013 at the Fenton Winery and Brewery, Fenton, MI.

  • Plymouth Whalers Family Hockey Night - Saturday, February 2, 2013

Alumni, family and friends met for a great time at the Compuware Arena.  The Whalers won, too! 

  • Wine Tasting - Thursday, Nov. 15, 2012
Twenty-two alumni and friends gathered at the Fenton Winery and Brewery for a Wine Tasting Event.  The evening included an insightful talk by Matt Sherrow '98 on his journey with wife Ginny about his journey from mechanical engineer to winery and brewery co-owners.  The wine was good too.
 
  • Chapter Dinner - Tuesday, May 15, 2012
Annual Chapter Dinner at the San Marino Club in Troy. Highlights included Keynote Speaker Dr. Pat Atkinson’s enlightening and entertaining talk about Crash Safety Testing and Requirements, four current students that live and/or work in the Southeast Michigan area receiving Bob Wolforth Memorial Scholarships, a University update by new Vice-Presidents Sue Davies and Kip Darcy and Kip’s 1973 Buick Centurion Convertible displayed alongside Paul Clark’s 1957 Buick Century 4-Door Riviera.
